The person writing the code is the person running the crews.

Colby Kordas founded Kanvo Technologies because the software his own companies needed didn't exist. He still writes it — and still runs the operation it was built for.

Colby Kordas

Colby Kordas is the founder of Kanvo Technologies LLC, a software company in Collinsville, Connecticut. He is also the owner and operator of Superior Landscaping LLC, Farmington Valley Construction, and Farmington Valley Rental — the businesses Kanvo CRM was built inside of.

His background is IT. Before the trades, Colby spent his career designing and deploying networks and managing technical infrastructure — work that taught him to look at an operation as a system rather than a list of tasks. When he launched Superior Landscaping in 2021, he brought that lens with him to scheduling, dispatch, job costing, and client communication.

What he found was a category of software that had never been designed for the work. Field service tools inherited their vocabulary and their assumptions from enterprise sales CRMs, and the mismatch showed up every day: in duplicate data entry, in crews working off screenshots, in invoices that didn't reflect what actually happened on the job.

So he built the alternative. Kanvo started as an internal tool running inside Superior Landscaping and became a standalone platform. Superior remains its first and most demanding customer — every feature is used on live jobs before anyone else sees it.

Three jobs, one feedback loop.

Kanvo is not a company where product decisions travel through a chain of people who have never done the work. The distance between the problem and the fix is one person.

Operator
Runs a working landscaping, construction, and equipment rental operation in Connecticut — crews, equipment, clients, and the paperwork behind all of it.
Engineer
Writes and ships the Kanvo platform. Full-stack, from the database schema to the field interface crews use on their phones.
Support
Reads the feedback and answers the questions. There is no tier one — the person who takes the report is the person who fixes it.

Why this exists.

Kanvo was never a business plan looking for a market. It was a working problem that needed solving, in a business that was already running.

"I didn't build Kanvo to start a software company. I built it because I needed it to exist."

Colby Kordas  ·  Founder, Kanvo Technologies

That constraint is the product strategy. Software built by someone who has to live with the result behaves differently than software built to a roadmap deadline — it gets simpler, not more elaborate, because complexity has a cost the person shipping it actually pays.
